Teacher Mental Health & Wellbeing Training
It will come as no surprise to those currently working in education that teacher mental health and wellbeing is now at its lowest level in five years, with stress, insomnia and burnout on the increase.
Working in schools has been described as “unsustainably demanding” and with 78% of education staff across the UK suffering from stress, it continues to be one of the main causes of short and long-term absence (CIPD, 2023).
The Life-Changing Magic of Resilience™
Drawing on the latest research, along with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and more, The Life-Changing Magic of Resilience™ is a comprehensive programme that provides tools and techniques to manage stress effectively, helping staff create balance, comfort and wellbeing in their everyday lives.
Mental Wellbeing Training for Children and Young People
Two Programmes in One
While the training is primarily about teacher mental health and wellbeing, schools will also receive a suite of adapted resources for use with children and young people (suitable for P6/Y5-S2/Y8), including PPTs, practical techniques, and supporting materials.
Mind Guardians: The Resilience Protocol
Teachers will be equipped with the knowledge, techniques and exercises to use in their own lives; they can then teach these coping strategies to children or young people as part of a series of interactive, practical modules.
Is Being Trauma-Informed Enough?
While the last few years have focussed on ensuring teachers and staff are trauma-informed, it’s not the whole story. Resilience is the flip-side of trauma and it is what enables humans to keep going, even in the face of adversity.
Resilience: A Preventative Programme for Teacher Mental Health
A resilience-building approach is preventative and involves coping with life’s challenges in a way that protects wellbeing—by training individuals to anticipate stress and prepare in advance to minimise its impact and ‘weather the storm’.
A Therapeutic, Research-Informed Approach
The Life-Changing Magic of Resilience™ is based on the latest evidence-based practice and therapeutic approaches and is designed to:
- Provide a better understanding of stress and how to manage it more effectively
- Give staff practical tools to ‘become their own therapist’
- Support the mind and body with simple daily routines to build resilience and find balance
- Help staff feel better able to cope with life’s challenges and handle them in a healthier way
- Provide stress-reduction techniques including relaxation, meditation, and mindfulness for life
